Getting car insurance in Nigeria just got a whole lot easier. Smartcash Payment Service Bank, a subsidiary of Airtel Nigeria, has joined forces with Leadway Assurance to make motor insurance simple, fast, and accessible especially for those on the go.
With prices starting from just ₦15,000, users can now get Third-Party or AutoBase Comprehensive motor insurance directly through the Smartcash app or by dialling *939#. That’s right-no forms, no queues, no stress.
Here’s what you get:
Third-Party Insurance: Covers damages or injury to others meets Nigeria’s legal minimum.
AutoBase Comprehensive Insurance: Adds extra coverage for your own vehicle in case of accidents.
Why this matters
Smartcash CEO, Tunde Kuponiyi, says the goal is simple: bring inclusive financial services to the people. “This partnership means insurance that fits into your day, not the other way around,” he said.
In just three minutes, customers can pick a plan, pay, and receive their digital policy instantly no paperwork needed. It’s all mobile-friendly and works across any phone, with or without internet access.
Leadway Assurance’s Kike Fischer also emphasized the impact: “This is about making real-time protection available to everyone, no matter where they are.”
This move reflects a larger mission from both brands: simplify insurance, drive inclusion, and help Nigerians protect what matters most whether they’re in cities or rural communities
