A Driver’s license is required for persons who wish to legally drive on Nigerian roads. Here are the different driver’s license classifications available in Nigeria:

| A | For persons authorized to ride motorcycles. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| B | For persons authorized to drive motor vehicles of at least 3 tonnes of weight other than a motorcycle and vehicles registered as a taxi, stage carriage, omnibus. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| C | For persons authorized to drive any motor vehicle of less than 3 tonnes weight other than a motorcycle, taxi, stage carriage, omnibus. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| D | For persons authorized to drive any motor vehicle of less than 3 tonnes weight other than a motorcycle, taxi, stage carriage, omnibus but excluding an articulated vehicle or a vehicle drawing a trailer. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| E | For persons authorized to drive any motor vehicle of less than 3 tonnes weight other than a motorcycle but excluding an articulated vehicle or a vehicle drawing a trailer. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| F | For persons authorized to drive agricultural machines, tractors and track laying vehicles. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| G | For persons authorized to drive articulated vehicles. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| H | For persons authorized to drive earth moving vehicles. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
| J | Special for physically handicapped persons, one eyed, one armed or with specially fitted gadgets on vehicle. You must be at least 18 years and it is valid for 3 years |
